Week of December 15th-19th

Exciting Events:

On Tuesday the students will have art as well as physical education. Ms. Dubreil was kind enough to give students a chance to make-up their missed art classes from all the two hour delays last week.

On Friday students will participate in our annual Holiday Celebration, the theme this year is Holiday games, focusing on Holidays around the world.

We will also be going down to see the Holiday Trees at the Town Hall on Friday.

On both Thursday and Friday we will be reading "The House Without a Christmas Tree" all together. This story is about the same girl we read about with Ms. Fonte during Thanksgiving.

Library News:

Mrs. Palin would like to help encourage students to read during the Holiday Break, she has asked all teachers to share the link to her blog, for good book reads, and great ideas for holiday gifts.

This Week in Fifth Grade:

Writing: We are still working on persuasive essays, students should be finishing up their essays on "Should College Athletes be Paid" and beginning their persuasive essays on a topic of their choice.

Science: We are finishing our brochures on Electrical Safety using an app on Google Drive.

Social Studies: We continue our journey across the country on the Oregon Trail. Students continue to work in wagon trains to see if they can survive the trip.

Math: We are finishing chapter 5 this week. We will begin a new chapter when we return in the new year.

Reading: We are reading the book "Bound for Oregon" together. It is about a family and their trials and tribulations on the Oregon Trail.

WIN: Students continue to work in their Literature Circle Groups.

Spelling: Please continue to help your student study their spelling words.

We wish you all a very merry holiday season and a happy new year! Enjoy this time off with your family!
