Week of October 13-17

Happy Tuesday!

We hope you all enjoyed your long weekend, and the festivities of the WFFF!

This week in fifth grade:
Writing: We continue to work on narrative stories, with distinct beginnings, middles, and ends. We are starting to work on developing strong main characters and introductions that grab the attention of the reader. Students have been getting their inspiration from silly pictures displayed on the board.

Reading: Students continue working in their literature circle groups, reading independently, and working on story features.

Math: Students had their Topic 2 test last week, and we will begin Topic 3 on Multiplying Whole Numbers this week. This should be a bit of a review. It would be beneficial to your student to practice his/her multiplication facts at home, too.

Science: We will be finishing up the Scientific Method this week and will be having a test on Friday. Students will leave class on Wednesday with a study guide, Thursday we will study together, and Friday will be the test.

Social Studies: We continue to learn about the Three Branches of Government and The Bill of Rights.

Other News:
Scholastic book orders will arrive this week!
We will be having our second Friday assembly this week.
